LDAP Address Book Help

Configure LDAP
Configuration is fairly easy.  We will use Microsoft Outlook as an example here. Contact us for more client specific installation instructions.

In Outlook 2002 or similar program, select "Tools => Email Accounts".   Select "Add a new directory or address book" under the "Directory Heading" section and click next.

Select "Internet Directory Service (LDAP) and click next.

Enter in the server name "ldap.linkedsolutions.net".  Enter in your email credentials under the logon section.  Click Next

Click "Finish" to complete the setup.

Testing LDAP Address Book
The address book is configured at this point.  You can now test the address book.

Click the Address Book Icon.  From the pull down menu "Show names from the:" Select "ldap.linkedsolutions.net".   Select the Search Icon or from the Tools menu, select "Find"

To return the entire address book, enter a "*" (above the 8 key) in for the display name and click OK. This searches for all entries.

Using the LDAP Address Book

You may notice the entries in the address book. The initial entries are part of the Global Address Book viewable to all Linked Solutions email users.  If you log into webmail and create entries there, they will become part of your Personal LDAP address book.  If you enter email addresses there, they will be available to you in your Email client (like Outlook) and be available to you when traveling or from home via WebMail.  Private entries are only available to you.  If you would like entries created for other users to use, contact us and we will make the global entry for you.
